Inspiration begins in China...

Ever since I was a little girl, I'd always loved Chinese culture. I collected chinese trinkets, loved chinese food, and for awhile I wanted to grow up to be a chinese food chef.
But when I was 20, I got the chance to go to China to study Contemporary Chinese Art with CCA, my school. I got credit for it, and leapt upon the chance to fulfill a childhood dream.
These are some photos from the trip.
One of the photos has my dad in the picture. He was in China for business during the tail end of my month and a half there, and we went traveling to a few of the places he had discovered during the seven months he was there working. He's a software engineer, and I get my knowledge of computers, video games and other nerd-speak from him.

First day, of the rest of my life

This is the first post of my personal Art Blog. I'm Shelley, and I'm an artist. I'm a textile designer and artist, as well as a sculptor, a baker and a lover.

I will post images of my work here, plus the work of people I admire. I will show works in progress, artist statements, poetry, videos, songs, even recipes for the best cupcakes in the world.

This is the Shellery, and this is my story.
